Spring 1

In Spring 1 we will be learning about …….

In Writing we will be writing sentences, focusing on using capital letters for names, places, days of the week and the personal pronoun I. We will then be sequencing sentences to form a short diary recount based on the book, “Wanted: The Perfect Pet” by Fiona Roberton.

In Maths, we will be focusing on place value within 20, addition and subtraction.

In RE we will be learning about Judaism.

In Geography we will be learning about the UK and Kenya.

In Science we will be learning about Everyday Materials and their properties.

In PSHE, we will be learning about "Identity, Society and Equality". We will learn about what makes us special and unique, roles and responsibilities at home and school and how to be co-operative with others.

In PE, we will be learning gymnastics and we will be developing our ball skills with our hands.

In Computing, we will be learning digital painting.

In Art we will be experimenting with paint mixing to make a range of secondary colours. We will then apply our knowledge of colour mixing when painting and explore colour when printing. We will then apply our painting skills and work in the style of the artist Clarice Cliff to paint a plate.

In French we will be learning the numbers 1-10 through traditional playground games and also sharing a familiar book translated into French as an introduction to colours.

In Music, we will be exploring sounds: high and low and long and short and creating simple melodies.

Our Oracy focus is "something I've made from an everyday material". Please see email sent to parents for additional information regarding this, including when your child can bring in their showing.

Knowledge Organisers

Knowledge Organisers detail the knowledge that children will gain from each unit of work. They also show the learning that has taken place before and how this will link to future learning. Children will use these at school to support their learning as they progress through the topic.
