Spring 1

In Spring 1 we are learning ...

In Writing we will be developing our journalism skills; unearthing the facts involved following an incident at 3 Honeypot lane in the Big Bad Forest, to write our own newspaper report. We will then move on to looking at playscripts and the story of Beowulf.

In Oracy we will be learning the skills required to work well in a group and using these skills to participate in a debate in class, discussing the question: Was the Anglo-Saxon period really a dark age?

In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication and division, developing strategies for efficient multiplication. We will then revisit our learning on length and perimeter before moving on to learning about decimal numbers.

In RE we will be learning about Sikhism.

In History, we will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons who came to Britain following the collapse of the Roman Empire. We will be looking to answer the question: Was the Anglo-Saxon period really a Dark Age?

In Science, we will be learning about Electricity and creating our own electrical circuits.

In PSHE, our ‘What is important to Me’ topic will see us discussing our friendships.

In PE, we will be learning to move with expression and stay in character while exploring our Cats dance unit.

In Computing, we will be programming in Scratch.

In French, we will be learning the vocab for some zoo animals through the sharing of a range of authentic French texts.

In Music, we will be writing music based on key signatures.
